  8. And I won't be classified as just a man." With those words,
  9. guitarist PETE TOWNSHEND sent the gossip world into a hypertizzy
  10. mode. Sifted from the new book Rock Lives: Profiles &
  11. Interviews, Townshend's remarks noted  that "I'd been surrounded
  12. by people that I really adored -- and was actually sexually
  13. attracted to -- who were men." That caused many to label the
  14. interview a coming out, but Townshend, married and the father
  15. of three, also says in the book that he was merely acknowledging
  16. bisexual sympathies that every "complete artist" has. His
  17. position: "I don't want to betray my gay fans' feelings of
  18. solidarity with me. I really don't think it matters whether I'm
  19. gay or not."
